“Heaven is a place on earth – Belinda Carlyle was not wrong in this idyllic setting. From the comfort of my chair with a bottle of wine I have seen osprey, dolphins and seals, now off for a walk, well done on a great place :-)”

“We have had a fabulous time here at Caerwenfor, it is a true privilege to be able to stay in such a wonderful location. It may have been said many times before, but the view is exceptional and always a delightful surprise to wake up to. Furthermore, we have been lucky enough to see Dolphins from the house every day of our stay. Our best advice is use binoculars to scan the areas around Ynys Lochtyn particularly when the tidies changing. It requires patience but the results are worth it. It was also a pleasure to show John his first dolphins from Caerwenfor when he called to change some lightbulbs! We have also seen a menagerie of other wildlife including grey seals, choughs, ravens, whitethroats, stonechats, meadow pipits and a range of sea birds. There is even a swallows nest in the car port. We would thoroughly recommend taking the footpath down from the house to the Ceredigion coastal path. The local stretch of coastline is stunning and the walking is fantastic (even if a little bit tiring by the end of the week!). Our favourite was to the village of Llangrannog, which has a fabulous neighbouring sandy cove that is secluded even at low tide. Moreover the ice cream at patio café is the best we have tasted in a long time.
We will surely miss Cardigan Bay and we cannot wait to return

“Our first visit to Caerwenfor and it will not be the last! A surprise holiday booked by my husband to celebrate my 30th birthday and what a surprise this place has been. The views speak for themselves, totally breath taking. We have seen so much wildlife in the week we stayed – it has been like a dream come true. Dolphins, seals, red kites. buzzards, peregrine falcons, kestrels, coughs, gannets and countless little birds. An animal lovers paradise. The house is beautiful, so comfortable and lighting the wood burner on a cold night is a must. We ate at the crown inn a couple of evenings, lovely food. We visited Mwnt beach, Penbryn, Tresaith and Poppit sands 0 all beautiful beaches. Can highly recommend the ‘dolphin survey’ boat trip that runs from New Quay. We saw loads of dolphins, porpoises and seabirds, We will be back very soon!

Firstly, thank you for allowing us to stay in this unique ‘Rockhouse’ – the best accommodation we have stayed in to date. An artists paradise. When we arrived the weather was fabulous, enjoyed the wine on the roof watching the dolphins, thank you
Elwyn Owen is a genius, building this place in the rock is amazing, nice to see and read about the history of this unique house. The area certainly gives Devon and Cornwall a run for its money, so unspoilt and the walks are so varied from coast to forest, with outstanding waterfalls.
We will definitely be back, already planning a visit for 2014!”

“Our second visit and as fabulous as the first, only this time we also saw dolphins (three in fact). We will be back as soon as we can!”

“Yet another lovely holiday. This really is a place to relax (and turn off the phone!) and recharge your own batteries! Have been lucky enough to see dolphins most days, seals, kites and buzzards and the occasional rabbit!”

“What a simply marvellous residence, so thoughtfully decorated and appointed. The perfect holiday retreat. The abundance of Flora and Fauna and the constant changing seascapes is just magnificent. I fear however that towards the end of the week here, we had become somewhat inured to the spectacle of schools of dolphins gallivanting in the water below, so as you imagine the sighting of a pod of killer whales provided a welcome distraction”
